The Beta Eta Deuteron chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was first established on Stanford’s campus on June 10, 1892, making it the second female fraternity established at the school. 125 years later, and Kappa remains a beaming presence, integrating womxn of all walks of life under one sisterhood. We currently have 53 active members and hoping to add many more to our chapter this spring. Within the immediate Stanford community, Kappa Kappa Gamma has won the Recruitment Award and Outstanding Scholarship award, and continues to maintain the chapter with the highest grade point average of all others nationwide!

A sisterhood of spunky, passionate and committed leaders, Kappa strives not for perfection, but for excellence in all of its endeavors. Kappas are many things. Athletes, librarians, surfers, writers, dollies, research assistants, tutors, volunteers, dancers — the list goes on and on. Kappa womxn are energetic and adventurous. Kappas are unapologetically passionate, committed, and strong-willed. When asking a Kappa why they joined our sorority’s chapter, one of the most common answers involves the assertion that the Kappa community encourages them to be their true selves no matter what. 

We are incredibly excited to announce that our chapter has a house on Stanford campus and cannot wait to live together. Kappa sisters spend time together at weekly chapter meetings, special dinners, formals and sisterhood events. We aim to support our members and foster community through our Diversity and Inclusion seminars, Peer to Peer support groups, Diversity and Inclusion “Office Hours”, career panels, and spotlights. We also love to hang out in informal settings: doing homework together at FloMo dining, grabbing lunch at Tress hangs, and spending time with our Key groups and Lins.   

While we have dues and event co-pays, Kappa works hard to make every event as accessible as possible. Members can apply for scholarship through Kappa nationals, and receive sponsorship through our house board and alumni.  We aim to find a way for everyone to afford the events, and aim to use our dues to finance the additional costs.  A portion of our dues goes towards a free gear item every quarter and additional, partially subsidized gear so that we can show off our Kappa pride.

Kappa is proud to support the Joyful Heart Foundation through yearly benefit concerts in partnership with Sigma Nu and Stanford Concert Network. The Joyful Heart Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to healing, empowering, and advocating for survivors of sexual violence. Some of their key projects include sponsoring the "NO MORE" campaign to dispel rape myths, hosting survivor healing and trauma care retreats, and putting an end to the backlog of untested rape kits in justice departments around the United States. We seek to give to an organization we believe has the tools and the platform to navigate these complexities with grace, courage, and strength. Throughout the rest of the year, Kappa Kappa Gamma supports our national philanthropy, Reading is FUNdamental, by donating our time and talent to children’s literacy programs in the area. In addition, every Tuesday morning, members of our organization cook and serve breakfast to the Opportunity Center in Palo Alto. We also engage with several other Greek organizations in smaller philanthropic projects such as Pumpkin Carving for a Cure and assembling and delivering toiletry kits to a local women's shelter.

In Kappa, it is our goal to make membership and chapter meetings meaningful, to empower our members and members of the community through education, to provide a support system for each of our members, and to rethink what it means for Kappa to be an open space that accepts members of diverse backgrounds. We work to use our power as a chapter to empower those around us and push for positive change in the broader community.
